Tips and information on buying the right tub
What you should know before buying.
The terms hot tubs and spas are used synonymously within the industry although hot tubs are generally deeper than spas and can be made of wood such as redwood. Portable hot tubs and spas are major purchases for most people. Ask your dealer as many questions as possible. Features can widely vary from tub to tub.
Hot tub prices, sizes and feature differences.
Tub prices are more dependent on features moreso than sizes. Hot tub pumps, blowers, underwater mood lighting, hot tub jets, stereo systems, and built-in televisions are features that are now available depending on the hot tub manufacturer. The number of jets and their placement determine the massaging and stress relief capabilities of your spa.
 Determine how many people plan on using the spa at the same time. Large hot tubs are ideal for larger families or those who plan on having friends use their tub also. Small hot tubs have the advantage of taking up less space. Large hot tubs are more expensive typically because they have more features.
Warranty and energy usage.
Be sure to ask about the electrical needs for your spa, hot tub energy usage, and the noise the spa will make when in use. The good news is
that portable hot tubs actually use less energy than you think! Studies show that energy usage is roughly between .39 and .59 cents per day
depending on what you pay per kilowatt. Ask about your spa covers R-value. Most spa covers have an R-12 insulation value.

Lounger vs. Non-Lounger.
Lounger spas have a seat which will allow a person to lay down in the spa. Non-lounger styles do not have this seat and thus can hold more people relative to the spa sizes. Notice the seating differences in the two spas pictured below.
